WALKS

 

Our Club conducts a number of interesting walks each year, usually in the Sydney area but occasionally further afield. All walks are open to members and their partners. The walks are graded Easy/Medium and are designed to suit the broadest range of participants.    Each walk is capped off with a convivial lunch at a suitable venue.

Examples of walks conducted in the past year are:

Curl Curl Lagoon to Freshwater

The walk took in Flora Reserve and Ritchie Roberts Reserve to South Curl Curl and then followed the cliff top boardwalk to Freshwater.  Views of the coast were plentiful the walk incorporated a brief visit to the Duke Kahanaanamoku Memorial Park.  Lunch was at the Harbord Beach Hotel.

 

Circular Quay to Wooloomooloo

The walk was around the Harbour foreshore via the Sydney Opera House, past the Man O’War steps, through the Royal Botanic Gardens and Mrs. Macquarie’s Point, past the Andrew “Boy” Charlton Pool before a well deserved lunch at the Wooloomooloo Bay Hotel.

 

Pyrmont Bay to Barangaroo copy

Pyrmont Bay to The Rocks

Starting at the Star Casino the walk followed Pyrmont Bay to the Pyrmont Bridge, across the Bridge and then followed the path past the Sydney Aquarium, King Street Wharf and Barrangaroo before finishing at Barangaroo Reserve.  Lunch followed at the Lord Nelson Hotel.

 

Tank Stream Lane

The Hidden Laneways of Sydney

This historical walk explored 20 of Sydney’s hidden laneways including Customs House Lane, Bulletin Place, Tank Stream Way, Angel Place, Penfolds Place, Rowe Street and many others.  Lunch followed at the verandah Bar.

Macquarie Lighthouse to Hornby Lighthouse

The walk commenced at Macquarie Lighthouse, Vaucluse and proceeded past the Signal Station, The Gap, Camp Cove and proceeded to Hornby Lighthouse and the Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage on the tip of South Head. The walk was followed by lunch at the Watsons Bay Hotel and a ferry ride back to Circular Quay.
